Hola amigos y familia!! What can I say...the pictures pretty much do the job! The waves have been so huge here that Ben finally caught his first yesterday and I caught my first today! We spent the first couple days getting pounded, unable to get out past the whitewater because it was so powerful. Today, I finally made it out for the first time, duckdiving more successfully, and I actually caught a good wave! I'm renting a 6'8" board which is a whole new experience. Ben's renting a 5'11" retro fish while an Italian named Dennis shapes him his own. It should be ready to ride in 2-3 days! This is an unusually large swell for January so they say...

I'm relieved that you weren't hurt Ben...maybe, this experience has taught you a valuable lesson to be more careful in the future and to keep your wits should another similar event occur! We love you both and your safety and well being are what counts! Your account is an exciting read--several of my friends have already read some of your posts. Yes, get another camera as those pictures are wonderful memories---but get one that isn't so pricey. Maybe you can find yours in one of those street stalls! Wouldn't that be
